The coronavirus outbreak is starting to show its impact on the smartphone industry. After several brands delayed or changed their plans, Xiaomi has now decided to postpone the first sale of its newly launched smartphone Redmi Note 9 Pro Max. The smartphone was launched in India during an online event on March 12, alongside the Redmi Note 9 Pro. It was scheduled to go on sale for the first time on March 25 but now has been delayed to an unannounced date.
"ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to recent state lockdowns across the Nation, we're postponing the 1st sale of #RedmiNote9ProMax to a later date. We'd like to confirm that the sale of #RedmiNote9Pro WILL HAPPEN as scheduled, tomorrow (24th) at 12 noon. Thank you! #NoMiWithoutYou,” Redmi India said in a tweet.
Earlier this month, in an exclusive interview with Zee Business, Anuj Sharma – Chief Marketing Officer – Xiaomi India, said that the company is hopeful that the situation gets better in the coming days, but in any case, it has a back-up for a few weeks which should ensure smooth operations.

“In India, things are still not that bad as some of the other countries. The number of infected patients is still less than 100 and hopefully, things will get better in the coming days. We usually have backups for a few week. Things in China are better too, some of our factories are running again…so, there is no problem as such,” Anuj said.
