Samsung on Wednesday launched its flagship phones Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus. Although the company did not divulge when the phones will be available in India and and what price, sellers are already taking orders for the phone.
“The Galaxy S8 and S8+ are our testament to regaining your trust by redefining what’s possible in safety and marks a new milestone in Samsung’s smartphone legacy,” DJ Koh, President of Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics said.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+, the company said, will go on sale on April 21 and will come in Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Arctic Silver, Coral Blue and Maple Gold colours.
Samsung did not announce the price of the smartphone at its launch event in USA however media reports like Verizon Wireless and The Verge listed prices ranging from $720 (nearly Rs 46,700) for the Galaxy S8 and $840 (nearly Rs 54,500) for the Galaxy S8+.
However sellers on eBay have already started advertising to sell the phone for Rs 90,000.
The caveat to the sale of the phone on one of eBay’s seller’s sites read, “Item will be provided from abroad, so you will have to wait for 50-55 days. Please do not buy if you cannot wait.”
The Galaxy S8 comes with a 5.8 inch QHD display; while the Galaxy S8+ comes with a 6.2 inch QHD display.
S8 and S8+ will be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor and Samsung's in-house Exynos 8895 octo-core processor, depending on the region. It has a 4GB RAM and a 64GB internal storage which can be expandable upto 256 GB.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ has a Sony IMX333 sensors. It has a 8 megapixel front camera with anti-focus and optical image stabilisation.
While the Galaxy S8 is powered by a 3000 mAh battery, while the Galaxy S8 Plus comes with a larger 3500 mAh battery. The smartphones also support fast charging technology and wireless fast charging facility as well. It comes with the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
