This year has been all about innovation in the smartphone market. Be it the front camera, fingerprint scanner or the display, manufacturers have been unveiling new tech. And, the innovation continues with Oppo's 'Waterfall Screen' or Full-Display 2.0 screen technology that has been recently unveiled by company's VP Brian Shen. The tech offers a dual-edge display with extremely curved sides for a higher screen-to-body ratio. The tech was also shared by tipster Ice Universe which tweeted images and some details about this new display technology by Oppo.
Named Waterfall Screen by Oppo, the Full-Display 2.0 sees both left and right side of the screen curved at 88-degrees. The tech makes bezels on the smartphone almost non-existent. The bezels on the top and bottom have also been reduced with no notch or hole-punch cutout. The images share hint at close to 100 per cent screen ratio.

It is still not clear which smartphone will mark the debut of this highly impressive tech. But, one of the images show the prototype phone next to the Oppo Find X. The latest offering comes with sharper corners and a squarish shape compared to the Find X. Unlike most smartphones, the prototype doesn't have the power button or volume rockers on the sides, which hints that the phone could come with interactive virtual buttons.

Notably, the front camera on the phone is also missing. This means that the company might be using its under display camera technology that it showed off last month at MWC 2019 in Shanghai. The tech hides the front camera under the display just like the fingerprint scanner. The users can click the images by tapping on the screen.
There is no official word on the launch of this smartphone but is expected to be introduced in 2020. Ice Universe claimed that the tech will also be seen on other upcoming smartphones like the Huawei Mate 30 Pro and Vivo Nex 3 this year. Oppo has been introducing several innovative technologies in the recent times. This year, it had also introduced 10x lossless zoom camera. with Oppo Reno 10X Zoom.
