Major social media platforms like WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram were reportedly down since Wednesday night. Many users across the globe complained that they were not able to access Facebook and Instagram. On Thursday morning, some users in India, Bangladesh, Brazil, Singapore and Argentina were not able to access WhatsApp, according to DownDetector. The outrage from users forced both Facebook and Instagram to respond on the issue. Both the social media platforms took to Twitter to say that the issue has been resolved but some users were facing problem even after that.
While the sites/apps are working fine for some, others are unable to access or login to Facebook and Instagram. The users who are able to log in to the sites have also complained about problems like freezing or blackout while using the service. "We’re aware that some people are currently having trouble accessing the Facebook family of apps. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible," Facebook responded in a tweet on Wednesday.
We're focused on working to resolve the issue as soon as possible, but can confirm that the issue is not related to a DDoS attack.

In another tweet, it confirmed that the issue is not related to DDoS attack and is being worked upon. DDoS (Distributed Denial of Service) attack is a cyber attack where multiple compromised systems are used to target a single system causing a Denial of Service (DoS).
In most cases, these systems are infected with a Trojan.
We’re aware of an issue impacting people's access to Instagram right now. We know this is frustrating, and our team is hard at work to resolve this ASAP.

Meanwhile, Instagram said that its team is working hard to resolve the issue. "We’re aware of an issue impacting people’s access to Instagram right now. We know this is frustrating, and our team is hard at work to resolve this ASAP," Instagram tweeted. Some users also pointed out that they couldn't use Facebook login to enter other apps like Tinder or Spotify.
