WhatsApp to roll out new mode, stickers, other features; details here

WhatsApp, one of the most popular messaging apps in the world, is working to roll out some interesting features for its 1.5 billion strong user base. As per some reports, around 65 billion messages are sent daily using the app across the world. The social media app, owned by Facebook, has been rolling out new features and updates to enhance user experience.

Recently, WhatsApp has added a new feature which differentiates forwarded messages from the original messages. Now a message comes with a 'forwarded' sign if it has not originated from the sender's device.

To expand its reach to feature phone users, WhatsApp has also released a new version specially meant for JioPhone users.

"For the first time, WhatsApp will be available for JioPhone across India. WhatsApp built a new version of its private messaging app for JioPhone, running the KaiOS operating system, to give people a simple, reliable, and secure way to communicate with friends and family," it has said.

Reportedly, the messaging giant is also working on two new features - ‘Swipe to Reply' and 'Dark Mode'.

The 'Swipe to Reply' feature will enable an Android user to instantly reply to a message by swiping right on the message. Currently, Android users have to select a message to reply to it. The feature is already available for the iOs users.

The Dark Mode will be a completely new feature for all users. The 'Dark Mode' is being designed to reduce stress on eyes while using the app in the dark or at night.

A Twitter user WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) had claimed on September 14 that WhatsApp is working on the feature. "I’m happy to exclusively give the good news: WhatsApp is finally working on a Dark Mode! It’s a dream. There are many important secret references in recent updates! Be patient to see it out, hoping it will be FULL OLED friendly for Android phones, iPhone X and newer!," reads the tweet.

The user also went on to suggest some incredibly interesting 'Dark Mode' designs to WhatsApp.

WABetaInfo requested WhatsApp to make the 'Dark Mode' similar to its concept:

The WABetaInfo also said that WhatsApp has added a new stickers pack.

WhatsApp has recently also empowered group admins to bar members from messaging on the group. Now a group admin can decide who can send messages in the group and who can't.
