WhatsApp users alert! Running low on phone memory? Fix it this way
Depending on popularity, we may receive hundreds of text messages, videos, voice recordings, GIFs, stickers, location, documents, images and much more. But it is important to know that these files take fixed space on our smartphones and eat phone's memory.
WhatsApp is one of the most used instant messenger applications used worldwide. We all enjoy chatting and exchanging media with our friends and known people using WhatsApp. Depending on popularity, we may receive hundreds of text messages, videos, voice recordings, GIFs, stickers, location, documents, images and much more. But it is important to know that these files take fixed space on our smartphones and eat phone's memory. The problem often ends up leaving no space on our phones, forcing us delete items in hurry.
However, it can easily be rectified as WhatsApp allows its users to delete media files and messages from phone and app's memory. Here is a step by step guide on how you can delete media files or WhatsApp cache from your phone (Only for android users).
Step 1: Tap three dots on the top right corner of the WhatsApp mobile app.
Step 2: Go to settings option
Step 3: Select the storage usage option
Step 4: WhatsApp will show you contacts in the order of the memory that they consume on your smartphone.
Step 5: Tap on a contact then tap on Free Up Space option.
Step 6: Now you will see a breakdown of files that you have shared with that contact along with the space that the contact is consuming.
Step 7: Now after this select the data like images, videos and voice messages that you want to delete from phone.
Step 8: Select Delete item option to go ahead
Step 9: Now tap on 'clear messages to confirm your deletion request
Finally, you will be able to delete your videos, images and all other media files from the phone's gallery.
You can also restrict the auto download option, in order to stop automatic downloading of media files. After doing this, you can download the required file as per your convenience. To do so, go to settings on WhatsApp and select 'data and storage usage' option. Now under the head, 'Media auto-download' tick 'no media' in all three options given.
