The country's economic growth is expected to continue with a "shallow recovery" next year, and is likely to inch up to 7.2 per cent in 2018-19 from an estimated 6.5 per cent in the current fiscal, says a report.

SBI's chief economic adviser Dr Soumya Kanti Ghosh in its Ecowrap report has said India's GDP will be at 5.8% in the third quarter (Q3) and will recover to 6.4% in the fourth quarter (Q4) of FY17.

Global brokerage Citigroup has lowered India's growth forecast to 6.8% for this fiscal from 7.2% earlier, as cash crunch has affected pick-up in consumption while uncertainty around demonetisation may further delay any recovery in private investments.
