According to Poynter, Instagram has started applying Facebook’s fact checks to keep false photos and memes under check on its platform. Instagram is also considering adding pop-up alerts when people search for anti-vaccine misinformation. To identify and reduce the distribution of false or misleading information or image, Instagram is using image recognition technology and automatic action to remove the false posts from explore tab and Hashtag result pages.
