In a shift of positions, Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) has regained its status as the most valued listed public sector undertaking (PSU) by market capitalisation, surpassing State Bank of India (SBI). As of Jan 17, LIC reached a market cap of Rs 5.64 lakh crore, exceeding SBI's Rs 5.63 lakh crore.

The rupee weakened by 10 paise to 67.84 against the US dollar in early trade today at the Interbank Foreign Exchange on month-end dollar demand from importers amid capital outflows.
NSE Nifty opened flat at 7927 points on Tuesday morning. At 917 hours, the index was trading up by 0.09% or 6.80 points. BSE Sensex opened up 0.22% and was trading at 25,894.69 points at 916 hours.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex climbed 70.93 points, or 0.27 per cent, to 26,170.45 in morning trade.
