The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday forecast near-normal rains for the April-September monsoon season in India, lifting worries over the possibility of below-normal rainfall that a private weather forecaster Skymet had predicted earlier.
"India is going to have a near normal monsoon in 2019 as the south-west monsoon is likely to be near-normal," said M. Rajeevan Nair, Secretary Ministry of Earth Sciences.
