With the portfolio allocation job over and done with in the morning, the first Cabinet meeting under Modi 2.0 dispensation was held today in New Delhi.
Former defence minister Nirmala Sitharaman created history on Friday afternoon when she took charge as the first full-time woman Finance Minister of India.
Earlier this month, while addressing an election rally in Himachal Pradesh, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah had promised to make Anurag Thakur a "big leader" if voters in Hamirpur elected him with a record margin. Several ministers heading these ministries failed to get a berth in the new Modi cabinet.
The new Narendra Modi cabinet that took oath on Thursday evening was full of mild surprises, if not shocks. As expected, senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders like Rajnath Singh and Amit Shah were included in the cabinet but as many as 35 ministers of the previous cabinet were replaced.
