Telugu Desam Party MPs, including Ashok Gajapathi Raju and J.C. Diwakar Reddy, were bundled into a bus by police from Race Course Road in the heart of Delhi from where they set out to reach the Prime Minister`s residence. The MPs were taken to the Tughlaq Road police station from where they were released two hours after their detention

The Telugu Desam Party politburo meeting to decide over quitting the NDA was planned for this evening, but the formality was completed during the daily tele-conference Chandrababu holds with party leaders in the morning. The TDP will write a letter to BJP president Amit Shah and also other constituents of the NDA informing its decision and the reasons for it, the communique said.

The resignations of TDP ministers came a day after TDP chief and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the party's ministers will quit the central government in protest against its refusal to grant special category status to the state.
In a bid to pacify the sulking ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP), Finance Minister Arun Jaitley today promised Andhra Pradesh funds equivalent to what a special category state receives but drew a line saying politics cannot increase the quantum of money.
