The Sensex and Nifty edged lower for a second straight session on Wednesday as caution crept into the markets ahead of the Union Budget 2018 today.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed at 35,965, down 68 points, while the broader Nifty50 ended at 11,027, down 21.95 points.
The expectations around this budget are muted with the major focus on a good balance between fiscal discipline and growth reforms. Experts believe rural economy will be the key focus, but infrastructure development and reforms are also likely to be highlighted.
