It's official! The most sought after defender in Europe, Matthijs De Ligt has been signed by Juventus for a whopping €75 million (£68m/$84m). The 19-year-old Centre Back from Ajax was one of the hottest properties in Europe in this year's transfer window but the Italian giants have pipped a host of Europe's top clubs, including Barcelona, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, to get his signature. After completing the move, De Ligt will earn €12m (£11m/$13m) per season - €8m in basic salary with €4m in bonuses.
De Ligt's agent Mino Raiola had confirmed that the defender would leave the Dutch club in summer if a suitable offer was made. It has been reported that Ajax and Juventus went back and forth over the price for De Ligt but the Dutch champions have eventually accepted the offer for their in-demand teenage defender, which includes €5m in add-ons.
The 19-year-old arrived in Turin on Tuesday and also underwent a medical on Wednesday ahead of the completion of his move. The defender had made his senior debut for Ajax in 2016 and has emerged as one of the most highly coveted defensive prospects in Europe.

Last year, he helped Ajax reach the Champions League semi-final where his side suffered a heartbreaking last-second defeat against Tottenham. Over the last 12 months, De Light made 55 appearances in all competitions, scoring seven goals. During the 2018-19 campaign, he also led the side to a domestic double. He has also made his Netherlands debut and has played 17 games so far for the national side.
Meanwhile, Juventus has been highly active in this transfer window, securing the services of Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey and Gianluigi Buffon on free transfers. Luca Pellegrini was purchased from Roma, Merih Demiral arrived from Sassuolo, and Cristian Romero was signed from Genoa. The club will start this year's campaign under the new manager Maurizio Sarri who was roped in after Massimiliano Allegri departed the club in May after five years in charge.
