Tulsi Gabbard to make US presidential bid in 2020?
With rumours going around that Republican Nikki Haley, also an Indian-American, might make a bid for the top office, 2020 US elections might turn out to be a war between two women candidates with strong ties to India.
Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard of Hawaii is considering running for US president in 2020, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Politico, a US publication.
Rania Batrice, an adviser to the progressive representative and deputy campaign manager on Bernie Sanders’ 2016 presidential campaign, did not dispute that Gabbard was considering running for the office of president.
Batrice said in an interview: “Someone like Tulsi, with her experience, is an important voice in the country.”
Gabbard, 37, became the first Hindu to serve in Congress when she won a seat in the US Congress on the Democratic Party’s ticket. She has also served in the Iraq War.
