AirAsia starts new flights from Agartala to Delhi, Kolkata, other cities
Earlier on September 20, the airline introduced additional flights from New Delhi to Kolkata. In August, the low-cost carrier introduced daily flights between New Delhi and Chennai. To increase the connectivity to and from Agartala, the airline has launched its flights to Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Imphal in Manipur.
To increase the connectivity to the northeast Indian state, the Malaysian low-cost airline AirAsia on Sunday launched its flights from Agartala to Delhi, Kolkata, Guwahati and Imphal in Manipur. On the expansion of the services, AirAsia India Chief Operating Officer Sanjay Kumar said that the airline would soon start flights from Northeast to south and western states.
As part of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's "achhe din" (good days) initiative, people of the state now could fly to anywhere in the country and abroad as many airlines had started operations from Tripura.

Agartala airport is soon expected to be upgraded with modern facilities. Airport Authority of India (AAI) Regional Executive Director Sanjiv Jindal said that the runway at the airport would be expanded to 3,000 metres from 2,286 meters.
AirAsia has consistently been named as the world's best low-cost carrier for 11 years in a row in international travel and airline awards, including the latest award for 2019. The airline is a joint venture between Tata Sons and AirAsia Berhad. It commenced operations on June 12, 2014.
