Jaypee customers hold protest on delayed delivery of homes

Homebuyers in Noida who booked properties with the real estate firm Jaypee Infratech today staged a protest against the company at Jantar Mantar and demanded the government to set a deadline for the delivery of their booked units.

Speaking to media persons, the protesters said they were waiting for delivery of their homes booked with the company for years and now they wanted the government to set a deadline by which they will take possession of the properties.
"A large number of homebuyers are waiting for several years but there is mo hope that it will be done any time soon. Now, we want the government to give a deadline by which homes will be delivered to us by the company," said one of the protester, Neeta Linz.
Jaypee Group could not be reached for comments. Calls made to its executive chairman and CEO Manoj Gaur remained unanswered.
The company, which is developing about 32,000 flats and plots across various projects in its township 'Wish Town' here, has been facing protests and litigation from homebuyers due to huge delays in completing the projects.
The protesters were detained by the police as they tried to march towards the Parliament building, and were taken to Mandir Marg police station from where they were released later.
