7th Pay Commission CCL: Defense minister Rajnath Singh has approved child care leave benefit to the single fathers appointed at the Indian Defense Services. Earlier, child care benefit to single father was not allowed though single mothers being posted at Indian Defense Services were allowed for such benefit. The Ministry of Defense decided to approve child care leave benefit to single fathers posted at Indian defense once the central government's DoPT (Department of Personnel and Training) approved 730 days child care leave for single parents.
The DoPT in December 2019 had approved the CCL benefit of 730 days for all central government employees except defense personel. For information to the readers, single mothers were allowed for 730 days or 2 years CCL benefit but it wasn't allowed for the single fathers. Now, with implementation of CCL for both male and female employees of the Central Government and the Indian Defense Services, all single patensts have been alowed for the 730 days CCL benefits.
These changes in the CCL benefits for single parents working at the Central Government or at the Indian Defense Services have been made as per the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations. the 7th CPC had recommended that single fathers will be eligible for child care leave along like single mothers. But, single fathers can apply for CCL six times in a year while single mothers can apply for CCL three times in a year.
CCL benefit for single fathers working at the Central Government was a long-awaited demand and it was recommended in the 6th Pay Commission as well.
