Bullet trains will soon be a reality in India. A team of Japanese engineers has started the design work for bullet train project that will connect Mumbai and Ahmedabad, as reported by Livemint.
The project which was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Japanese counterpart earlier this year will need a number of joint ventures between Indian and Japanese companies, Sanjeev Sinha, adviser to the Indian High-Speed Rail Project, said in an interview to Livemint.
Sinha said that the 100 member design team is mainly working on tweaking the engineering of the Shinkansen technology to mould it to Indian conditions.
As per the report, the Indian government has decided to create an institute in Vadodara and Gujarat to work on R&D for the bullet train project.
That institute is under development and the Japanese officials are regularly visiting Vadodara to facilitate it, Sinha added.
