Black Money crackdown: Income Tax office asks citizens to report suspicious cash transactions in Lok Sabha Elections 2019
To ensure that a free and fair election is conducted, a 24x7 control room is set up, to curb the utilisation of black money during the General Elections 2019.
Lok Sabha Elections 2019 is just around the corner. Expenditure during the election campaigning is skyrocketing and this gives leverage for black money to circulate easily or terror financing. The general elections is seen to take place over six weeks starting from April 11 to May 19,2019 in seven phases. As per media data cited by ICICI Bank in its report, the voter base is estimated at 900 million people, with 84 million new voters as compared to 2014.
To ensure that a free and fair election is conducted, Investigation Directorates of Income Tax, Mumbai, has set up a 24x7 control room, to curb the utilisation of black money during the General Elections 2019.
The Office of Director General of Income tax (Investigation), Mumbai, with gathered intelligence will keep a stringent watch over movement of cash and valuables such as gold, silver etc. They will also keep an eye on any unlawful activity that might have an impact on the elections in the constituencies of Mumbai. Necessary actions will be taken under Income Tax Laws.
Vigilant citizens are requested by the Office of Director General of Income-tax, to pass on any information with regard to stocking, movement or distribution of black money, cash, gold, silver etc.
