Good Newwz box office collection day 3: Akshay Kumar starrer on fire, earns big amount on Sunday

Good Newwz box office collection day 3: Akshay Kumar's latest movie Good Newwz has set the box office on fire, closing out an excellent year for the actor. Akshay has delivered as many as four hits in 2019 - Kesari, Mission Mangal, Housefull 4 and the latest being Good Newwz! The most recent release opened well on Friday minting Rs 17.56 crore and picked up over the weekend. The film raked in Rs 21.78 crore on Saturday but came into its own on Sunday where it managed Rs 26.65 crore, taking the overall collection to Rs 64.99 crore by the end of first weekend.

Good Newwz film has got a better opening than Housefull 4 but failed to beat Kesari and Mission Mangal. However, both the movies had released on extended weekends due to Holi and Independence Day, respectively. Kesari had earned Rs 78.07 crore in the opening weekend while Mission Mangal had managed Rs 97.56 crore.

Movie critic, business analyst and influencer Taran Adarsh believes that Good Newwz box office collection by the end of first week will be over Rs 100 crore. He said that the business will get boost from New Year celebrations.

"Revised: Sun 25.65 cr. Total: ₹ 64.99 cr... Mon numbers should be strong at multiplexes... #NewYear celebrations will boost biz on Tue [31 Dec 2019] and Wed [1 Jan 2020]... Should cross ₹ 100 cr before Week 1 concludes," Adarsh tweeted.

He added that business had jumped across most circuits and multiplexes were driving the business.

Good Newwz film is competing against Dabangg 3 which had released last week. It was hit by the ongoing protests in the country over the Citizenship Amendment Act. Despite that, the film has managed to earn over Rs 130 crore since release.
