Indo-US relations 'people-centric': Modi

On a day US President Donald Trump gave a huge push to Indo-US relations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said bilateral ties between the two nations form a "comprehensive global strategic partnership" and they are "people-driven and people-centric".
"President Trump and I have met five times over the last eight months. We are elevating our relationship to comprehensive global strategic partnership level. We are increasing our cooperation in homeland security. We have decided to increase our efforts to fight terror to combat organised crime, drugs, narcotics cooperation will be stepped up," Modi said.

Saying the most important foundation of the special relationship between India and the US is "people-to-people contacts", Modi said professionals, students, and the Indian diaspora in the US have made a major contribution in this and that the two commerce ministers have had positive talks on trade.
