Modi govt to surprise, snub tradition, present full Budget 2019?

Union Budget 2019: The Narendra Modi government is so confident of getting a second term that this may even reflect in the actions that it takes leading up to the general elections 2019! So, much so, that it may junk tradition and history in the process. The most striking place it will reflect in is the government's budget plan. A senior government official has indicated that the Modi government may do away with the mini or interim budget next year. The Union Budget 2019 will be the last budget of this term for the Modi government ahead of the polls.

Till now, a party in power used to present an interim budget due to the transition that may happen after elections. However, the Modi government is confident of its re-election in 2019 Lok Sabha elections and plans to present a full budget with the focus on economic development and expenditure programme, reported Mint.

Famously, Coal and Railways minister Piyush Goyal has claimed, citing a survey, that the party will win 2019 Lok Sabha elections."Through an independent third party, a massive survey was conducted in August-September on over 5,40,000 randomly selected respondents. I am happy to share that the BJP looks to win 297-303 seats in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections," Goyal has said on November 17.

Modi government has already brought some historical changes in the Union Budget by abolishing separate presentation of the rail budget and by advancing the budget presentation date by almost a month to February 1 from February 28.

This next change will not only indicate continuity but also reflect the government's approach towards the ongoing economic developments. The report claimed that the government has set a deadline of November 30 for all the ministries to give inputs for FM's budget speech. It has also asked for the revised estimates from them. The government will also publish the annual economic survey as per routine.

Goyal has also said that the government won't let the industry and investors suffer at any cost. "Come what may, the Govt. will make sure that none of our industries, those building infrastructures and those who have invested in the nation's growth will be affected," he has said.
