Modi govt's 2nd inning: Bolder reforms expected

The Narendra Modi-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government's second innings has begun after it came to power with a brute majority and there are speculations about the reformative steps his government may take to further India's economic growth. Following the victory, the government is expected to roll out bolder reforms, PTI reported today, citing a US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) official.

"Indian voters have sent a message, they want a leader who can improve on the economy, their quality of life, create jobs and make India a nation which is rising itself. The new government will take up various reforms, as it knows that it has to deliver the economic agenda, USISPF President and CEO Mukesh Aghi told PTI. Aghi said that people voted PM Modi to power as they think he can deliver on the economic front. 

 People reposed faith in PM Modi because they think that he can improve on the economy, their quality of life, create jobs, and make India a prosperous nation, he said. "If you want to attract manufacturing you have to do labour reforms, you got to look at the land reforms, because companies need big chunk of land to manufacture. While the government has done a lot of good work on IBC, they need to see how they can make IBC more effective," Aghi was quoted as saying.

He also said that labour reforms, the land reforms are needed for boosting economic activities. Aghi said through the government in its previous term has done good work on IBC, it is needed to make IBC more effective.
