Budget 2019 Impact: The prices of petrol and diesel have gone up, just a day after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her first budget.
Budget 2019 Impact: The prices of petrol and diesel have gone up, just a day after Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented her first budget. In the Budget Speech, Sitharaman had announced an additional special excise duty (SAED) of Re 1 and a road and infrastructure cess of Re 1 per litre on both the transport fuel, which was to result in a Rs 2.5 hike in price of petrol and Rs 2.3 in diesel. Here are the fuel prices in major cities today:
Delhi Petrol and Diesel prices
Petrol price has increased by Rs 2.45 to Rs 72.96 today. Diesel price has been increased by Rs 2.36 to Rs 66.69.
Mumbai Petrol and Diesel prices
Petrol price has increased to Rs 78.57 from yesterday's Rs 76.15. Diesel price has increased to Rs 69.9 from Rs 67.4.
Chennai Petrol and Diesel prices
Petrol price has increased to Rs 75.46 from yesterday's Rs 73.19. Diesel price has increased to Rs 70.48 from Rs 67.96.
Kolkata Petrol and Diesel prices
Petrol price has increased to Rs 75.15 from yesterday's Rs 72.75. Diesel price has increased to Rs 68.59 from Rs 66.23.
Previously, the SAED of Rs 7 per litre was charged on both branded and un-branded petrol and Re 1 per litre on diesel. Also, road and infrastructure cess of Rs 8 per litre was charged on both the fuel.
All Indian Petrol Dealers Association (AIPDA) spokesperson Ali Daruwalla said yesterday: "From Friday midnight, the basic prices will increase by around Rs 2 per litre of petrol and diesel. The actual prices in different states will vary, depending on local levies."
Uday Lodh, President of the Federation of All Maharashtra Petrol Dealers Association (FAMPEDA), said the fuel prices will go up, but the exact retail prices to be applicable in the state shall be known later tonight or early on Saturday.
