7th Pay Commission Dussehra Festival Gift: The festive season has already started and the Railway Ministry has made a big announcement! Indian Railways employees working in the railway workshop have seen their overtime allowance almost doubled by Ministry. This is known as an incentive bonus which a railway employee gets after working overtime. Notably, this comes ahead of the Dussehra festival and will be most welcome.

Train 18 made in ICF
Notably, this follows the success of Vande Bharat (Train 18), which has become one of the signature trains of Indian Railways in terms of speed and comfort. It was a huge achievement and the workers made it possible in good time without any glitches.

Train 18 has been manufactured in ICF, where the allowance of employees has been increased.

Recommendation of 7th Pay Commission

These employees were not getting increased incentive bonus under 7th Pay Commission. Therefore, this has been extended after the approval of the Railway Board on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission.

Double Bonus

The 7th Pay Commission had recommended that if an unskilled worker works overtime, the incentive bonus given to him/her should be increased from Rs 6,760 to Rs 12,168.

Why give bonus?

This decision of Indian Railways will benefit the workers of Chittaranjan Locomotives Works (CLW). A high-speed locomotive (rail engine) has been built at Chittaranjan Locomotive Works (CLW), West Bengal, which can run at a maximum speed of 180 kmph.

Biometric attendance

This incentive bonus is given to railway employees on an hourly basis. Now biometric machines will be installed in all railway workshops and production units to register employee's presence.

Increased arrears

This increase in the incentive bonus will be considered from July 1, 2017 onward and the railway employees are also expected to get a considerable amount of arrears.

7th Pay Commission Allowance from bonus

All India Railway Men's Federation (AIRF) General Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra said that its demand to change this incentive bonus to allowance has not been completed yet.
