7th Pay Commission latest news: Government employees in various states are receiving some good news regarding the money they get one after another. The latest to get this celebratory news were teachers in West Bengal. The government there has decided to give a huge hike to the teachers posted at higher educational institutions. This follows the decision of the government to implement a modified UGC pay scale as per the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations.
Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee said that after implementing the 7th CPC pay scale for the state government teachers employed at higher educational institutions, an additional burden of Rs 1,000 crore will come on the state government's coffers. She also announced that from 2016 to 2019, all state government teachers will get annual 3 per cent salary hike benefit as well.
The teachers employed at various higher education institutions in West Bengal were advised to accept this government's decision with open heart as very few states have implemented a modified UGC Pay Scale as per the 7th Pay Commission norms. Two of the West Bengal teachers associations All Bengal University Teachers Association and Jadhavpur University Teachers Association have hailed the West Bengal State Government's decision to implement revised UGC pay Scale for the state government teachers at higher education institutions.
