7th Pay Commission: Maharashtra government has decided to give dearness allowance (DA) to the state government employees from 1st September 2019.
7th Pay Commission: After implementing recommendations of the Seventh Pay Commission for the state municipal corporation, municipal council and Nagar Panchayat employees and pensioners last month, the Maharashtra government has decided to give DA (Dearness Allowance) to the state government employees. The DA is given by the central and state government to pare the rise in inflation and adjust government employee's salary with the Consumer Price Index (CPI). This move of the Devendra Fadnavis government in the state is seen as a big bonus to around 4 lakh government employees and pensioners ahead of the Dussehra festival.
The DA hike will be implemented with the new 7th Pay Commission pay scale from 1st September 2019. So, the salary gets credited into the account of an employee and a pensioner on the last working day of September 2019 would have the added DA as approved by the state government. As per sources in the Maharashtra secretariat, the state government may table the proposal in regard to the DA hike in the upcoming cabinet meeting and is expected to get passed without any hurdle. The 7th Pay Commission recommendations have been implemented in the state's 27 municipal corporations and 362 municipal councils and Nagar Panchayats.

As far as the 7th Pay Commission, as far as arrears (1 January 2016 to 31st August 2019) are concerned, the state government would give the same to the beneficiary state government employees in five installments. The first installment of the arrears would be added into the September 2019 salary. The arrears to be given by the state government in the wake of implementation of the 7th Pay Commission there would be Rs 406.17 burden falling on the government exchequers.
With this decision of the Maharashtra Government, the 7th Pay Commission benefit would now be available for Thane, Navi Mumbai, Kalyan-Dombivalli and other municipal corporation employees of the state of Maharashtra. For information to the readers, there are 27 municipal corporations and 362 Nagar panchayats in Maharashtra.
It should be noted that the Maharashtra Government has already implemented 7th pay Commission recommendations from 1st January 2019 for all state government employees. After the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission, the state government is spending around Rs 1.4 lac crore which as Rs 62,123 crore before the implementation of the 7th Pay Commission.
