7th Pay Commission: For the officers working with Indian Railways, a bumper opportunity has come as the national transporter has decided to double the honorarium of those personnel who were working as arbitrators. The amount has been increased from Rs 500 a day to Rs 1000. If the officers function in the role of an Arbitrator for half-a-day, they will be entitled to get Rs 500 instead of the earlier amount of Rs 250.

According to the latest development, Indian Railways decided to increase the maximum honorarium amount to Rs 20,000 per case. The Railway Board has not effected any other change, and the copy of this order is currently with 'Zee Business' online.

What is an arbitrator

Arbitrator is the person appointed by each department to resolve internal disputes. This system is very old in railways, and the arbitrator extends his/her services to resolve disputes without taking the court's help.

Arbitration is a procedure under which if a dispute comes, Arbitrator hears both the sides and then decides the matter as per the law. We can take an example of 'Panch' or 'Panchayat' that also in a form of an arbitrator.
