SIDBI-IIM Lucknow starts new management programme to help young entrepreneurs
Under the aegis of SIDBI, the IIM conducted the successful Management Development Programme (MDP) for young MSE entrepreneurs at its campus.
In a bid to address the emerging needs of young Micro and Small Enterprises (MSEs), the Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has started a new programme in association with Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Lucknow. Earlier started on a pilot basis, the programme has now potential to be replicated by other institutions of national repute.
Under the aegis of SIDBI, the IIM conducted the successful Management Development Programme (MDP) for young MSE entrepreneurs at its campus, according to a statement, adding that the two-week residential programme, sponsored by SIDBI, was attended by entrepreneurs from across the country.
The programme was conducted to bridge the gap between academic knowledge and problem-solving techniques with special focus on the MSE sector, said the IIM. Notably, the MDP was conducted as an interactive classroom format and the contents included case studies, role play and project discussions.
The MDP, however, covered key aspects of management including production management, project management, financial management, marketing management, management of stakeholders, human resource management, Government e-Marketplace, Goods and Services Tax (GST), legal aspects, ease of credit to inspiring leadership and innovation, strategy and economics of business, said the statement.
Mohammad Mustafa, Chairman and Managing Director, SIDBI said, “We have designed the programme especially for enterprises who have already crossed the enterprise creation stage. The programme will help the entrepreneurs to strengthen their enterprise so that they can spearhead their business in emerging and competitive globalized environment. We intend to institutionalize such MDPs and widen the outreach to more and more MSEs. Our aim is to cover 300 MSEs per year under this programme.”
The programme has been designed for first line of leadership in an organization who are the change-makers and decision-makers. The programme has been customized in consultation with MSE representatives and follows the true spirit of “By the MSE and for the MSE”, it said.
