Apple fans to wait more! ToF 3D feature to be introduced in 2020 line up of iPhones
The technology company is also outlining the use of Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) in their cameras
American multinational technology company Apple is yet to announce its iPhone models for this year. However, the company is planning to to incorporate the Time of Flight (ToF) 3D sensing rear camera system for their iPhone models next year. It was speculated earlier that Apple will introduce the Time of Flight (ToF) 3D sensing rear camera system as a part of the 2019 line up of iPhones. But, according to, the sensor was not quite ready to be released into the market.
Additionally, the tech giant is also outlining the use of Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) in their cameras for their 2020 smartphone line up. Vertical Cavity Surface-Emitting Laser (VCSEL) is a key component of the TrueDepth camera, coupled with features like Face ID, Animoji and Portrait mode selfies.
Renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo made a statement that the ToF 3D rear cameras will make its debut in 2020 iPads line up before the 2020 iPhone line up.
For the next year, Apple has planned to launch four iPhone models in addition with notable specification upgrades. Among them, three smartphones are expected to OLED screens, display sizes of 5.4-inch, 6.1-inch, and 6.7-inch along with 5G connectivity. The last one will have an iPhone-8 like design, and may come with 5G connectivity and OLED panel.
