The instant messaging platform is bringing an update to the existing feature that will make you wonder why this feature was not put there in the first place! While a lot has been said and written about privacy on WhatsApp, a feature that takes your privacy for a ride, has hardly been talked about. In one of the strangest acts, WhatsApp allows other users to download your profile picture without permission. And, this feature has not been questioned by anyone, leave alone protested against. However, when a few voices were raised, the Facebook-owned platform had prevented others from downloading user profile photos on Android, a feature it is now set to introduce for iOS users.
According to a WhatsApp tipster WABetaInfo, the platform has finally removed the possibility to copy, save and export the profile picture of your contacts. But, the users need to keep in mind that the update has only been added for individual chats. The users can still continue to save pictures from group chats.
"The feature is still available for groups, where you can save group icons. WhatsApp has already removed the same feature in the latest Android beta updates and in the WhatsApp Business beta for iOS 2.19.60.4 and 2.19.60.5 on TestFlight," WABetaInfo reported. The feature has been introduced as part of iOS 2.19.60.26. It is currently available for beta users and can soon be made available for public use.
Improved albums
When you send multiple photos in a chat window, WhatsApp currently groups them in a single bubble. This allows users to download, delete and forward images in one go. The bubble shows the total size of the files but does not mention the number of images or videos shared. The latest update will also enhance the feature as albums will now show the number of items too.
"When you receive multiple photos in a chat, WhatsApp groups them in a single bubble. WhatsApp has improved the layout of the Album, including now how many items there are in it," the tipster said.
