Realme 5 to be discontinued; here is why smartphone lovers need not worry

This was one of the reasons why the smartphone became highly popular in India and other markets. Realme 5 was launched alongside Realme 5 Pro and the company also added Realme 5s to the series later on. The company claims to have sold 5.5 million units of Realme 5 series through 2019. The sales figures were revealed by Realme India CEO Madhav Sheth on Twitter.
And, while you would expect Realme to celebrate this in a big way, the company has decided to discontinue Realme 5! Wondering why? Well, the Chinese smartphone maker is set to launch Realme 5i - its latest budget smartphone in India on Thursday afternoon i.e. January 9. With this, the company plans to replace Realme 5 with Realme 5i.
However, both Realme 5 Pro and Realme 5s will continue to sell in the Indian market. Both these smartphones also come with quad camera setups and a unique crystal-inspired design.

The Realme 5i price in India will be revealed on the launch day but with the company set to discontinue the older smartphone, the new one should cost you less than Rs 10,000. Launched in Vietnam, Realme 5i comes with a 5,000mAh battery and 6.52-inch display with a waterdrop notch. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor and will be sold in India through Flipkart.
The phone has been launched in Vietnam in two variants - 3GB RAM + 32GB storage priced at VND 3,690,000 (approx Rs 11,500) and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage priced at VND 4,290,000 (approx Rs 13,500). Both the phones are available in Blue and Green colour options.
Meanwhile, Realme 5 was also powered by the same chipset but came in thee variants - 3GB + 32GB, 4GB + 64GB and 4GB + 128GB. It had a 6.5-inch HD+ display, with a waterdrop notch. The phone had a quad camera setup with 12-megapixel primary, 8-megapixel ultrawide, 2-megapixel macro and 2-megapixel depth sensors.
