Mercedes-Benz India is all set to launch the new CLS, which is now in its third generation, on November 16. Both the petrol and the diesel version of the car would likely to be available in India. The all-new CLS, the new Mercedes-Benz design, and the features are like that of A-Class, new GLE SUV and the AMG GT 4-Door. Depending on the engine and level of equipment, the car will be priced between Rs 80 lakh and 1 crore.
The luxury car will also get an AMG version for India. Even though the CLS accounts for a very small sales volume, all three generations of the car have been sold in India and have been popular among niche buyers, reports NDTV.
According to the report, the car will get a choice of engine options. The details of the petrol are not confirmed yet, the diesel variant however will be the CLS300d, which is a 2-litre BS6 engine. The recently updated C-Class facelift also comes with a 2-litre BS6 engine.
Coming to the engine, it makes 241 bhp of peak power, 500 Nm of peak torque and sports a rear wheel drive setup along with the new 9-speed automatic gearbox. It is expected that the petrol variant will also have the same engine. However, this new version will not have a CLS63 AMG variant, but will have the CLS53 which will be mated with 6-cylinder engine with hybrid powertrain for blistering performance.
The design of Mercedes-Benz CLS has always been its USP and this new car is no different. It features leek lines, great dimensions, besides getting a brand new interior, which is similar to that of the new E-Class, and also comes with dual screens, one for the infotainment and one for the instrument cluster. Other than that it has the new MBUX user interface, the report added.
