An Air India Express aircraft on a trial flight "successfully" landed at the Kannur International Airport on Thursday, according to an official tweet.
The aerodrome would be the fourth international airport in Kerala.
"A passenger aircraft has successfully landed in Kannur International Airport. The trial was carried out by Air India Express aircraft IX 555. It is part of the final procedures for getting clearance to commence commercial operations," the Kerala Chief Minister's Office said in a tweet.
A video of the aircraft landing at the Kannur aerodrome was posted along wiht the tweet.
In June, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that the airport would begin operations this month.
In May, the Union Home Ministry sanctioned deployment of over 600 CISF personnel at the airport spread over 2,330 acres.
