BPSSC ASI Steno recruitment 2018: Bihar Police Subordinate Service Commission (BPSSC) has announced the results of Stenographer Assistant Sub- Inspector recruitment exam 2018 of Bihar Police at its official website bpssc.bih.nic.in. The BPSSC Steno recruitment exam was held in March and a total of 2,820 candidates had applied for 174 vacancies. However, only 2,2,546 candidates appeared in the exam out of which 2355 candidates have qualified for the posts. The candidates who have managed to score a minimum of 30 per cent have been declared eligible for the next stage. Now those selected in the mains exam will have to appear for the shorthand and typing test. The BPSSC will be releasing the schedule for the shorthand test very soon.
The BPSSC has kept 59 vacancies of 174 reserved for the women candidates. BPSSC said in its result notification that out of 2355 successful candidates, 1592 are male, 724 are female, 25 are Physically Challenged and 14 are Wards of Freedom Fighters. A total of 6,952 candidates had appeared for the preliminary examination out of which 2,820 had qualified for the mains exam.

Bihar government via a Gazette dated August 24, 2017 had empowered BPSSC to conduct the recruitment for the Bihar Police stenos. "The selection of candidates for appointment to the posts of Steno Assistant Sub Inspector by direct recruitment shall be made by the Bihar Police Sub-ordinate Service Commission constituted under Bihar Police Sub-ordinate Service Commission Act 2016 (Bihar Act 6, 2016), through Combined/Separate Competitive Examination. A requisition shall be sent to the Bihar Police Sub-ordinate Service Commission in the prescribed proforma, in which number of reservation category wise vacant posts will be mentioned. The Bihar Police Sub-ordinate Service Commission shall set question papers, conduct examinations, appoint examiners to examine the answer-sheets and shall recommend the list of successful candidates," the Gazette had noted.
