Looks like Asus is all set to beat OnePlus and other leading smartphone brands in the battle of processors. On Tuesday, the company announced that it is set to launch its latest gaming smartphone - Asus ROG Phone 2 in India on September 23. It is confirmed that the new flagship level device would come with Qualcomm's latest most powerful chipset - Snapdragon 855 Plus. Also, it will be the first smartphone to be powered by this processor in India, beating OnePlus by just three days which is set to launch OnePlus 7T on September 26.
The Asus ROG Phone 2 is set to be launched at an event in New Delhi on the mentioned date and the company might also unveil the accessories it had showed during the global launch events. Asus claims that the new processor can increase the performance and graphics by about 15 per cent as compared to Snapdragon 855. The latter was used on most flagship smartphones of this year including OnePlus 7, Asus 6Z and Redmi K20 Pro. The chipset will be assisted by 12 GB RAM along with up to 512 GB of UFS 3.0 storage.
The other major highlight of the device is that it comes with a 120Hz refresh rate display which is not found on any other smartphone as of now. For this smartphone, the company has stuck with a 6.59-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED Display. This not only improves the gaming experience but also allows the company to offer an in-display fingerprint scanner.

Another highlight of the ROG Phone 2 is its huge 6,000 mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. The smartphone weighs around 240 grams due to the bigger battery used on that. Notably, there are two Type-C charging ports on the Asus ROG 2 along with a 3D cooling chamber with a vent to sustain peak performance.
For optics, Asus has gone with the similar dual rear camera setup that was also used on the Asus 6Z. It includes a 48-megapixel main camera and a 13-megapixel wide-angle camera. However, the camera is not operated through a motor on this one. At the front, you get a 24MP selfie shooter. Even though Asus ROG Phone 2 price in India is yet to be announced by Asus, it is expected to be aggresively priced as the company also aims to take on flagship devices with the new smartphone.
