UPSC Result 2019: 7 aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir crack civil service exam

UPSC Result 2019: The results of the prestigious civil services exam held by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has been declared and Kanishak Kataria, a B. Tech from IIT Bombay, has topped the final exam. On the other hand, Srushti Jayant Deshmukh is the topper among women candidates. The UPSC has said that a total of 759 candidates - 577 men and 182 women, have qualified the exam and are eligible for appointment into various services like IAS, IPS, IFS. However, what is heartwarming that seven aspirants from Jammu and Kashmir have cracked the prestigious civil service exam. They belong to Jammu region.
As per an IANS report, Rehana Bashir of Poonch, an MBBS graduate, has secured the 187th rank. Abhishek Augustya, who secured the 286th position and Sunny Gupta the 320th, are both from Jammu city while Babar Ali Chagatta (364) is from Reasi district. Three candidates - Harvinder Singh (335), Gokul Mahajan (564) and Devahuti (668) are from Jammu district.
The civil services (main) examination, 2018 was held in September-October, 2018. A total of 10,468 candidates had qualified for the appearance in the main examination. The prelims examination was conducted on June 3, 2018 in which a total of 10,65,552 candidates had applied while only 4,93,972 candidates gave the exam.

A total of 1994 candidates qualified in the main exam and were selected for the personality test held in February-March, 2019. The top 25 candidates comprise 15 men and 10 women, reported PTI.
